Entry 2: The importance of research and researchers in Second Language Teaching


Empirical studies should constitute the major source of knowledge for teaching practices. Research and researchers are, therefore, a key element to understand how languages are best learned and what constitute good teaching practices. According to Brown and Lee (2015), for centuries the field of second language teaching lacked theoretical foundations of learning that allowed practitioners to develop their lesson plans based on knowledge yielded from observation and rigorous studies.
